XTERRA Garnet Hill will consist of a 1K swim is beautiful 13th lake followed by a challenging 26.5K bike course that utilizes Garnet hills extensive network of mountain biking and cross country ski trail. You will finish with a 8K run on the same trail system. It is a 8:30am start time. Individuals and teams are welcome.
There will be 2 transitions. T1 will be located on the beach. T2 is located next to the Ski Shop and Finish Line.
Short Description: The Garnet Hill bike trails are pretty wide open and non-technical. There are only 2 sections of single track (one section you will pass by 2x), so let’s say 3 sections. Overall the bike course is fun and pretty fast. The finish of the bike course is on the Old Faithful trail where you can fly around curves and is pretty flat and really fun. If you are a newbie or a racing veteran, I think you will like the course. As with any race you do, you have to practice for what the race is going to be like. It is in the mountains so there will be climbs and fast descents. The run will parallel some of the bike course and then traverse back through and around it for a single 5 mile loop. The run will have some hills and mostly take place on wide open trails.
Also, please don’t make race day your first open water swim! Practice your open water swims. We will have a warm up area in the lake before the race start as well.
Friday Night - 20% off all entrées with advanced reservations at the Garnet Hill Lodge

This is a USAT Sanctioned event.

-T1 is where you will place everything for your bike leg. Your swim gear (wetsuit, goggles, swim cap) will be with you for the swim. Bikes will be racked in a ranges (1-10, 11-20, etc…). It is first come first served within that range. Every other bike will be on the opposite side.
-T2 is where you will place your run gear for after the bike leg. It is also where you are going to rack your bike after your bike leg.
Each racer will receive a bag for T1. It will have your race # on it. When you exit the water place all of your Swim Gear into the bag. It is the athlete’s responsibility to get all of their gear into their bag. We have volunteers collecting the bags to bring them up to the finish line afterward. The volunteers will not know if your goggles are TYR or Speedo or whatever. If you don’t put your gear into the bag, you will have to pick through the “lost & found” pile to get your gear.
Bibs – race bibs will need to be worn on the bike AND on the run! The timing chip will be on the bib. No bib, No Time. Teams – will have to exchange the bibs for each leg. There is a bike number number that will affixed to the handlebars of the bike. It will not have a chip on it.
There will be a bib marking Stop Area when you pass the Ski Shop/Transition 2 area for the 2nd time. All Bikes will need to stop to get their bike number marked (a quick slash with a marker).
When you finish your bike leg, enter T2 and rack your bike next to your run gear. Please make sure it is on the correct side. If you rack you bike in the wrong location, you will be given a penalty.
Common Roots Brewery will be on site post race to hand a free beer or two to those that are 21 or older with a valid ID. We will have some light post race snacks. Also Garnet Hill Lodge will be offering a Race Day BBQ: Hamburger $10, Cheeseburger $10, Veggie Burger $10, Pulled Pork Sandwich $12, BBQ Chicken $13 – All sandwiches include Coleslaw, Pasta Salad & Chips.
