Adirondack Race Management and the Greenwich Economic Development Group are bringing the Urban Assualt to Greenwich in 2013! This is a fun non-competitive challenge with some fun obstacles and a BIG finish at the YMCA in Greenwich!!!

The race will take place on Saturday, May 4th and will start at 10 am.

The course is a 4 mile course that navigates through the Greenwich area and its various landmarks. Along the way are challenging obstacles you’ll need to overcome!

This is an exciting event that anyone from couch pototoes to chiseled veterans (or anyone in-between) will equally enjoy. Compete alone or bring some friends to help get to the finish but don’t wear your best racing gear....it may get sloppy out there!

There will be tires to run through or over, Mud, rope obstacles, a creek crossing, probably more mud, eat a munchkin, monkey bars, slip-n-slide and other objects to take on.

Online Registration is Closed -

- RESULTS -

As you know we did not have official timing at the event. SISU Racing was there for a dry run using their new timing equipment. If you have any feedback let us know, but we thought they did a great job! Here are unofficial results if you are wondering how you did!

Course Rules & Obstacles:

This is an Urban Assault run. The course has been designed to follow along the sidewalks mostly, with some running in the street. There will also be a little running on grass, trails, parking lots and other surfaces. Why did we do it this way? Well the simple answer is it's called an Urban Assault. What's there is there and we're using it. The course will be marked with signs as  well as volunteers. Participants will cross traffic on several roads, so be prepared to stop as needed or directed by volunteers or Police. The course is not a closed course - there will be cars and pedestrians.

The obstacles are placed throughout the course and are not at set intervals. They are placed where they are placed. Volunteers will be present at each obstacle along with signage. All participants are encouraged to attempt each obstacle. If the obstacle can't be completed, the participant can go around it after serving some type of penalty (jumping jacks, push ups, etc..). Some obstacles may require crawling or rolling on the ground where there could be dirt or grass! If it is raining it will be wet!

Kids are to welcome to run, but  must be at least 6 years old. All minors are required to have parent or guardian signatures on the waivers and application. Strollers and dogs are not allowed on the course.

Only the first 300 participants are guaranteed to receive a t-shirt - Only guaranteed to those that sign up prior to April 20th.

Start Times:

Start times will be based on the wave you signed up for when you register. Each starting wave will have *50 racers and will be 3 minutes apart. 10:00, 10:03, 10:06, etc... Wave starts are subject to change and as the race fills waves will be added. This is not a chip timed event. *We are making the waves smaller to ensure that we have a safe number of people running on the sidewalks in the first few miles of the race. The smaller waves will help spread things out.

Start Location:

Greenwich YMCA.

Bib Pickup or Race Day Registration:

Bib pickup as well as Race Day Registration ($40) will take place at the Greenwich YMCA.

Attire:

There are no restrictions on clothing. (well, other than I guess what the law says about wearing it...) In other words - if you want to wear a goofy costume, bathing suit or some riduculous outfit - go ahead! Prizes will be awarded to best Group Costume and individual Male and Female costumes.

Water:

There will be 2-3 water stations on the course serving water only. Participants can carry water or other type of product (e.g. gatorade) with them if they wish, using a water bottle, camelback or other container (no glass please). Alcoholic beverages are prohibited from being used on the course. The water stations might be self serve - we're not sure yet, but that's what we are thinking... :)

Awards:

Awards will be given to the best Group Costume, and Individual Male and Female costumes. All racers will receive a day pass to the Greenwich YMCA.

Waiver:

All participants will be required to sign a hard copy waiver prior to starting the race. This is the same waiver that each participant has already digitally signed when registering on Active.com. You can obtain a copy HERE to review or keep for your records.

Post Race:

The race finishes at the Greenwich YMCA. Racers are encouraged to visit the many shops and stores located in Greenwich and along the course.

*course subject to change.

Course Description - We are still finalizing the route, but the basic course will remain as dipicted in the map - It is a Counter-Clockwise loop - Start at the YMCA and finish at the YMCA. See, pretty simple. We'll have a cue sheet up on the site shortly.

We will have signs and volunteers pointing the way and directing traffic. *Very important to only cross the roads only where there are volunteers and you may have to wait for traffic - it is the Urban Assault after all...! The course is not a closed course - there will be cars and pedestrians.
